Pend Oreille County (Pronounced "pond-er-ay" or in IPA: /ˈpɑndəreɪ/) is a county located in the U.S. state of Washington. It is named after the Pend d'Oreilles tribe, whose name is French for "earring" (literally "hangs in the ear"). As of 2000, the population is 11,732.
